A Messi-Inspired Barcelona Shatter Juventus at Camp Nou

The Blaugranas hosted their opening Champions League match against their well-known rivals Juventus. This game had football fans all over the globe excited to watch these two sides face off after last year’s thrilling encounters.

First Half

The home side started the match off strong, taking the driver seat at the Camp Nou. Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi were all in sharp form, as they tried to wiggle through Juventus’ rock-hard defense. It wasn’t until the last minute of the first half that Barca’s number 10. opened the scoreboard, scoring his first ever goal against Buffon. A smart link-up between “La Pulga” and Suarez led to Messi’s shot that took the goalkeeper by surprise, sending the ball to the right side of the net.

Second Half:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The second half became much more open and spacious giving Barca’s front men room to roam and make some magic. In the 56th minute, Messi drove the ball to the front of the goal box and passed to Rakitic, who sent it home. After two goals from the Catalan club, the Italian side began to lose their concentration resulting in a shaky defense. And Messi took their weakness as an advantage, netting another stunning goal.

The match ended in three goals for the Catalans with zero conceded. The presence of Dembele and Semedo have boosted the team’s confidence while Messi’s magic continues to pour down on the field. A perfect start to this year’s edition of the Champions League.
