Luis Suarez seals the deal in Catalan Derby

Barcelona take home three golden points in the Catalan Derby and Luis Suarez finally got his name on the scoreboard. After back to back poor performances with the Catalan club, the player seemed to have lost his confidence. And to make matters worse, critics began to lash out on the striker.

However, Suarez silenced all his haters with a beautiful goal in the 69th minute, sentencing the game for his team. His shot came from a great pass through the middle as the Uruguayan saw his chance and sent the ball to the back of the net.

The derby was filled with offside calls and tough tackles from the home side, but that did not pressure the Blaugranas. Two own goals from Girona and one killer goal from Suarez sealed the deal for Ernesto Valverde’s men.

Despite the 3-0 scoreline, Girona gave an excellent team effort, as they kept Barca’s goal-scoring machine Lionel Mess off the board.

Andres Iniesta’s astonishing vision, Messi’s brilliant plays and Marc Ter Stegen’s strong blocks gave Los Blaugranas a well-deserved win.

This win gives Barca the top spot on La Liga table with 18 points. The Catalan club have a 100% win record with six consecutive victories under Valverde, something that has never been achieved with any other manager. Brilliant.

Barcelona will face  Sporting in their midweek Champions League match on September 27th. Don’t miss the action!
